People looking to fuel their opioid addiction, get high, or experiment with drugs often turn to social media or other ways to contact drug dealers selling what appear to be authentic prescription medications. Many of these dealers, however, are actually selling fake pills containing lethal doses of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid.
Featuring realistic, sculpted models of five commonly abused prescription pills secured behind plexiglass, this framed, 3-D display warns viewers that they cannot tell the difference between real and fake prescription medications simply by looking at them. Realistic pill models (pill fronts and backs) include facsimiles of the commonly abused attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) drug Adderall and the benzodiazepine Xanax commonly prescribed for anxiety disorders, as well as opioid drugs OxyContin, Percocet, and Vicodin. The 3-D display includes a built-in easel back allowing it to stand on any tabletop. Accompanying, two-sided tent card explains the dangers of deadly fentanyl overdose and urges viewers only to take prescription medications obtained through a licensed pharmacy and prescribed for them by a healthcare professional. The 3-D display measures 25 cm x 34 cm x 18 cm; tent card measures 22 cm x 25 cm.
